Mindful Ramblings
Hey, it could happen.

My friend July and I are married. Apparently, we went down to Vegas one weekend and got hitched. We were at the chapel anyway, and I decided that I may as well propose and get this dating thing out of the way. It's boring.

Anyway, that's a fun pretense. It started when she told me a story about her being in church, and the usher asking her if she'd like to wait for her husband. She held up her ringless wedding finger and told him she wasn't married. I, being the born smartass, replied "What? I thought we were married. Weird."

She got a great kick out of that, and since then we've been pretending we're married. Apparently I'm a hippie who grow a Japanese garden and she's my suger mama...I can get used to this. It's fun, because she said this guy at work keeps asking her out, and she brushed him off by saying she's married. See, I'm convenient!

Not too much else is going on over here, nothing blog-worthy in any case. I rented "Big Fish" (I cried at the end of this movie longer than at any other movie in my life. So I'm a movie wimp, sue me) and "The Other Side of Heaven". It's a movie about a Mormon missionary who went to Tonga and preached his word and what not, based on a true story. I'd seen in it theatres with my Mormon friend Nick and Laura because the person who directed it was the son of one their congregation couples. My interest was revived when I decided to join the Peace Corps, for multiple reasons. I remebered that it was a decent movie, and showed hardships that will no doubt be similiar to the ones I will face. As I researched the film (www.imdb.com, best movie site ever) I realized that part of the movie was filed in the Cook Islands. Part of the Cook Islands lies in Kiribati, where I'll be going. When I learned this, last night, I decided I had to rent the movie for another look. I watched Big Fish, but I haven't watched "Heaven" again yet.

Umm...other than that...

I froze a wart of my finger. It should be gone in 7-10 days, if the package is to believed. That'll be nice.

That is all,
Chris

I was a Peace Corps volunteer once. Actually, it was the Canadian NetCorps program. I was a cybermissionary. It was cool. Anyhoo, at the info meeting we had a volunteer who had just returned from Kiribati, and she gave us the slide show. She seemed to enjoy the experience, and I'm pretty sure you will too.

David,
Awesome! I'm really looking forward to my experiences over there. I sometimes wish I could look ahead two years and see what kind of person I will have become. But life's a journey, right, not a destination?

Imajinit-

I really did dig that flick. Especially the mix of tall-tale humor and romance....it was super cute. A definite Tim Burton movie.
