Mindful Ramblings
Wimpy Wimpy Wimpy!

Today at work we lifted and stacked 50 lbs bags of deer feed. Nothing to tough for a guy of my size and youth, well, it wouldn't have been if I'd had some decent help. The two guys I worked with, stacked, would have weighed maybe what I do. That may be an exaggeration, but one guy, Rex, is about 5'4" and can't weigh more than 120 lbs. Jesse on the other hand probably weighs in at a relatively beefy 140, but he's about 5'8", so the extra heft doesn't really do him a lot of good. I clock in at about 215, so throwing those things around wasn't much for me, but I'd try to toss a bag to one of the other guys and it'd about bowl em over. So a 15 minute job stretched to about 45 minutes, which wasn't SO bad because at least it made the time go by. Grocery stores in tourist towns tend to get a little slow in the winter.

P.S. Happy Mardi Gras. I feel like I should go out to the local drinking establishment and have a beer or two, but I'm already in my sweats, and what's the use?

Unfairman, first off thanks for reading my stuff, I may have more soon I'd like to hear your thoughts on. Second, I used to hate those people at the grocery store that would stock up on water softener salt for like 6 years resulting in me heaving 100 - 40 lb. bags of salt into the back of their cadillac while commanding "don't crush my eggs." Did I mention the grocery store I worked at had a "no-tipping" policy where if you accepted one you could be fired! Grrr....I feel for ya Chris, but hey, now you can skip that day at the gym...speaking of which I gotta get to the gym.

Y'know, Ted, that's EXACTLY what I did (skipping the days workout, that is). We can accept tips, which is nice. I actually got a fiver yesterday! I was impressed. If a guy tries hard enough, he can usually make two, even three dollars in tips in an eight hour shift. Twice that in the summer, with all the tourists. Most aren't used to a "full service food market" like the one we run.
